Welcome to corbawnmatters.com. Its purpose is to provide timely, accurate information and to encourage and facilitate communication between residents of the Corban Estates in the spirit of mutual respect and support. It will also display and archive important notices and larger references and documents regarding major planning issues, public consultations, and the like, for consideration and discussion. Right now it’s in its beginnings with limited content but gradually we hope it will become the to-go place to find out what’s happening on key local issues.
It also has a broader agenda – to explore our environment and how we fit into it, including practical ways in which we can work better with nature going forward; our physical selves and how we might function better, and socially – how we can improve our experience of living with one another as we re-imagine a future together.
New WhatsApp Group
In parallel, we have established ‘corbawnmatters’ WhatsApp group, to facilitate day-to-day alerts and friendly conversations between residents. Because WhatsApp is mainly a mobile phone-based App and is more for shorter messages, alerts etc, we intend the website for wider discussion and sharing of pertinent documentation /information, which can more complex. We will also post alerts when new updates are posted on the website.
Our purpose is to facilitate and encourage constructive debate to address the current information deficit in our community, to alert each other to issues that need attention, and to encourage developments in the interest of protecting and enhancing our environment and quality of life.
Some social media platforms such as WhatsAp are notoriously prone to outbreaks of uncivil behaviour from time to time. The cornerstone of our approach is mutual respect and this is reflected in the proposed rules that cover users of the website and WhatsApp group.
Rules are needed to protect. At the outset, we have researched social media etiquette and in order to join, you must be happy to accept the rules (click to see) and etiquette guidelines for participation in the group. These are designed to protect members (and Admins) and to encourage debate and discussion of relevant issues affecting us all. Membership is open to residents who are not involved in the management or control of other community groups locally.
Review: We intend to open discussion on the rules at the end of a 6-month trial period and to adjust as appropriate. We will also introduce a complaints /dispute resolution system asap to allow for complaints /appeals to help ensure that nobody is unfairly treated. We also welcome constructive feedback on an ongoing basis, using our contact form.
To apply to join the WhatsApp group, simply Click here.
All personal information provided will be regarded as confidential but be aware that your mobile number will appear next to any posts, as is usual in WhatsApp groups.
As we gain experience we hope to add a ‘comment’ facility to the web items and also occasional surveys to establish the level of support, or otherwise, for important issues as they arise.
Meanwhile, if you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Mike or Nicole here.
Have a great day!
